I have read that alot of you have changed to locking hubs on the front, why ? Does this offer some unforseen advantage that I have no idea of ? Is it expensive ? How hard is it to do ?What is the best web site to get parts (off road) for this truck.

There are three main advantages to having manual locking hubs. One, if you brake something up front you can unlock your hubs. You can't unlock you hubs if they are locked in all the time. The second advantage is you will gain some power when you have your hubs unlocked. The third advantage is your aren't turning all that front stuff , so you have less where a tare. Steve Oh yah I almost for got manual hubs run about $84.00. I have read that alot of you have changed to locking hubs on the front, why ? Skidplate, where did you get your manual hubs, and what brand are they? I'm getting ready to buy some, oh yeah and I took your advice on the Wrangler MT/Rs. I bought a set of 285/75/16. They are bad-***. Thanks for the input.

I don't have a set on my sport yet. No money no Mods But I think the brand that I have heard most people buy is called super winch I think. I just want to re-iterate what skidplate said, I've seen alot of superwinch hubs on the '01(and newer) M.S. l.s. models that come from the factory here on guam. It is an option to get them like this because most people ended up changing them out anyway. It's mostly a rich-person thing, I haven't been able to wheel/talk with them on the performance side. Also, I've read on here that the toyota pickups/suv's manual hubs will also fit our monteros. You might see if you can get and rebuild and older set at a wrecking yard for cheaper... Have a good day and keep flying!

I've called super winch and warn, niether make manual hubs for a 02 xls, if i find someone who does i'll let you know, the reason I only called them is they are in my opinion two of the best manufacters. If any one knows of a company that makes hubs for 2000 and up ms's please let us know.
thanks

I've got Superwinch huns on my 2000. Part #400543. Matt I'm not sure if they will work for urs joe, but I'm sure you can return them if they don't. In another ten hours I am going to count my own and tell you so that if at least they DON"T fit yours because of the # of splines, I will know or not if they will fit 98's.

Heres the page for the superwinch hub models. www.superwinch.com/products/hubs/index.html The part number 400543 refers to a montero '82-98. Now, if our good buddy MATT says that this fits his as well, that just means that the spline count and mounting hasn't changed since '82(good or bad thing I dunno) but since they fit his 2000, it will be most likely that they WILL fit your 02. I don't believe mitsibishi would up and change something like that if its been working for them for soo long, and it was NOT changed in 2000. [glow=blue,2,300]Therefore, I state my THEORY that they will fit. If they don't joedee, I will glady buy them from you for the exact price you paid plus shipping from your door to mine USPS(its the only way I can get anything shipped to guam). Thats my promsie, because now I know that they at least will fit mine no problem. [/glow] Agreed?
