Why are there so few companies out there that make lift kits for the Montero Sport? With all the Sports out there, you'd think there would be plenty of choices. I have a 97' Sport and want to lift it but I'm not crazy about cranking the torsion giving up my travel. Does anybody out there have any better ideas?

I don't know the answer to your question, but I know someone that has an Isuzu Rodeo that he did the torsion bar lift on with new springs. He has it sitting nice and high. It looks good.

While there are a lot of Sports out there, not many lift them or even consider taking them off-road.
Old Man Emu is the way to go. Cranking your torsion bars 2" won't really sacrifice that much travel that you'll notice. The ride will be more firm, but still nice.

I agree with CerOf - the OME lift and suspension is the way to go. I replaced the stock suspension on my 02 XLS with an OME kit and have been thouroughly pleased with the resuts. It's great on and off road.

I think that the Old Man Emu kit is simple and a great product.
I have the Old Man Emu shocks and the bushing kit, but I ended up having one leaf spring per side of the truck fabricated at a local suspention custom shop and I inserted it into the factory spring pack and I really like the ride (still feels like the factory ride with the right amount of lift to install 32" tires.)
Note: the shop use standard U.S. size spring steel (2 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick by 41" length were my actual dimensions). The stock Mitsu leafs are actually 2 3/4" wide, but they're thinner than my custom leaf.
Also important if you get it custom fabbed, make-sure they install the poly pads so the leaves don't squeak when you're driving around town.
