i could tell just by looking at the tires my truck came with that they would not be very good off road. yesterday had a chance to run them across a friend's farm property, muddy grassy fields, and almost did not make it back. should have kept up more speed, but still, those tires have no bite at all. i suppose they will be the same in the snow, true? that's too bad, cuz i sure don;t have the cash for new skins, and what a waste, those tires only have 5k on them.

They are bad in the rain, mud, snow, ice, slush, grash, sand, dry pavement, you name it.
They are the worst tire I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing.
I ditched mine at 3K miles because on a non-AWD montero sport, you slide like crazy!!
Switched to Michelin LTX A/T 265/75R16 and every aspect of driving improved 110%.

Yeah...I agree with CerOf...the Michellins are great. Great all weather tire, quiter than the Yoks and I got a good 100,000 miles out of my last set. I replaced the yoks at about 45,000 (Im being generouse here) and recently replaced the Michs at 150,000.
Ive been in rain (lived in Oregon for the last five years and traveled to Seattle a LOT!). Played in the snow a good amount and NEVER had an issue unless I was being an idiot. Enjoyed driving on the beach in the summers and rescuing some bigger trucks (LOL). Never really made it into the mud though...

Never mind mud nor snow nor ice...Yoko Geolanders are not good IN LIFE. Even turning out of a driveway, the sidewalls are so soft my MS would rock back and forth and make me dizzy!
CerOf likes Michelin (I don't...I never got good wear out of them). I like BFGs. I'll probably get 55,000 to 60,000 out of them. As far as ZMilin getting: "45,000 out of Yokos." and "100,000 from Michelins"....you CAN'T be talking about miles. Even at Kilo conversion, those numbers are too high. Let me know what you're smokin...I want some too.
Cheers, Stod

STod, I've heard of a LOT, I mean a LOT of people getting 75,000+ miles out of their Michelin LTX A/T tires. Go over to tirerack.com and read the user reviews, there are a lot of people who got CRAZY mileage. I *might* squeak out 65,000 miles on these tires if I start driving the MS like I *OWN* it and not like I *STOLE* it.
