I have a 98 sport with 83K on it. I have never had the bearings serviced or repacked. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks Dan

Dano,
Let's just say that you'll need to repack your bearings with grease ;D. Remember to replace your grease seals and to apply a light layer of silicone sealant for the front hub cover.

Thanks for the info are there any gotchas when doing this or is at straight forward as a normal wheel bearing grease job? I have never done this on a 4-wheal drive. Thanks Dan

Dano,
I re-packed my bearings yesterday with the help of a mechanically inclined friend. It was pretty straight forward! I've done break jobs on other vehicles and also put manual hubs on my truck so I was half way there! It was pretty easy. I picked up a new set of bearing seals from NAPA but my existing ones looked pretty good. I took apart both front assemblies and had them packed and put back to togther in 2.5 hours. The dealer wanted $300 to do it which I thought was exessive! So $27 later I had my bearings re-packed. If you do it yourself, just make sure you remember which bearings were outside and which were inside. I degreased both sides before re-packing to be safe. I worked the grease in by hand so it was fun! The dealer would have had a machine or something to do that for them but it was effectively the same thing!
Good Luck!

I decided to take it to the dealer and have it done, they only charged me $150.00 so I decided that's not so bad.
I did not notice any changes in driving but its good to know that its done.
