Hey everyone, I need some help pls. I want to put the K&N FIPK kit on my Sport but I dont know which one to get. I was told to get the one for a 3000GT Non Turbo but my question is what yr and will it fit right on my intake or will I have to rig it up or what? Also, will I be hooking the sensor back up or will it not be used anymore or what?My sport is a 97 LS w/the 3.0 in it. If anyone has one of these on their sport give me some feedback so I will know what to get if its even worth getting. Thanks, Geoffrey Haynie

I do not have the FIPK but I believe you may search for the part number @ K&N website. If my memory serves right the part number is 57-1500. Yes, you still have to use the MAS (sensor). I've read the installation instruction at K&N website before and it sounds easy. All you need is the right tools. Good luck.

Just about any aftermarket filter kit that adapts AFTER the Mitsubishi Mass airflow sensor will work for the Montero Sport as each mass airflow sensor has the same adapter pattern. You will need to fabricate some type of mounting bracket for it though. I am using the 3000GT FIPK kit on my truck at this time... this kit has the Biggest KN conical filter I could find out of all Mitsubishi applications. Bolted right up...I even used the mounting brackets supplied with the kit.

So your sayin that you just bolted the FIPK straight on the Sports engine w/o any mods? So I can go to Auto Zone and order a FIPK kit for a 3000GT and then when I get it, take it straight out of the box and put it on no problem? I've heard it fits right on and Ive heard the kit is to big and has to be rigged,,so I dont know. Also what yr 3000GT was the kit for and can you tell any porformance difference at all? O yeah,,does the sensor just plug into the FIPK Kit? also.

Yes, the 3000GT FIPK kit fits right on. You'll need to remove the lower half of the factory airbox which will no longer be neccesary anyway. Click on the link on my signiture and take a look at my old setup on page 6. You'll have a different adapter after the mass airflow sensor, but it basically hooks up the same. I'm currently running the 3000GT FIPK setup in place of the HKS unit as a matter of preference.

Thanks for the Info Joel. I am prob gonna order me one very soon. Does it matter what yr 3000GT FIPK kit I get or is there a certain yr? Also can you tell any difference in gas mileage and horses? I see that you have the hks exhuast as well,,where did you get it and how much was it? I dont think I will have the money for a whole new exhuast so I will prob just get a Flowmaster on mine. I hope it will sound good. ;D
