I am new to the board, hello everyone!
I purchased my 2001 Montero Sport XS last March, used, with 78K miles on it. I live in Michigan and had to drive all to Ohio (Medina Mitsubishi) to get it. These vehicles are hard to find in Michigan. Actually in my town, their is only one other registered Montero driver if that gives you any idea. But I have wanted a Sport for years and finally found one.
I was curious if anyone knows what the maximum tire size for a 2001 MS X/S is? I would really like to put 31" on it, but not sure if that is possible.
Also, being that it is a 2001 with almost 108,000 miles on it now...I wonder if tires that size would put too much strain on my already aging vehicle.

yes, a 31" tire will fit just fine.

also, it won't affect or cause anything to wear out abnormally soon. Your axles are the equivalent of Ford 8.8 axles, people in the jeep community run up to 38" tires. (safely they run 35" tires)
