Looking to replace my original yokohama's on my 2000 MS Ltd----anyone have a recommended tire that is reasonably priced. I'm told the yok's are overpriced for what you get. The originals have worn well (52k). Any help is appreciated.

Are you looking for a highway tire, offroad tire what? And what are you looking to spend about?

pretty much all on-road driving. Don't want to spend more than $500 total.

I just got a set of Dunlop Rover A/t tires. Grand total was $446. Dunlop is offering a $50 mail in rebate for these. Check Dunlop.com for details. I am very happy with my decision. Whatever you do, don't get a set of no name tires. I did two years ago and they were impossible to balance. Crappy tires will destroy suspension components over time. Dont make a $1200 mistake like I did.

Michelin LTX M/S or Michelin LTX A/T tires. Will last almost twice as long as the yokohama's and have FAR superior traction.
I put the Michelin LTX A/T tires on our sport with 3K miles and we have around 50K now and about 1/2 tread still left.

If you have a Costco or other similar warehouse club near you I'd highly recommend that you check their prices. I bought a set of BF Goodrich tires from Costco. Best price around and great service with free lifetime balance and rotation. They also use nitrogen to fill all the tires which is a nice touch. I have the 'All Terrain T/A KO's'. I love them but they are a bit more of an off-road tire than I think you are looking for. Try the 'Rugged Trail T/A'. My buddy has them on his Xterra and he really likes them.

Just curious… What is the benefit of filling with nitrogen?

Filling with nitrogen -- Does not get affected by changes in temperature as much as ambient air . Also does not leech through rubber as easily. I've noticed that the pressure in my tires does not seem to change between cold and hot months or really go down at all.

Im partial to bridgestone myself, but I got the dueler H/L all balanced and installed for exactly 500. 265/70 16
Supposed to be bridgestones top of the line highway truck tire.
You might have to talk them down for that price though as they retail for 160 each

I got the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos... they are awesome, but are also a hybrid on/off road tire, but I love em.

You will definitely be happy giving up on the Yokos. I'm running Pirelli Scorpion AT's and they're the best AT's I've had on a truck so far (even Load Range C and S speed rated, 50k miles and about 1/2 way on the treadwear). I haven't run Michelins yet, though... and I don't run Nitrogen either ($450 for a tire inflator??? sorry, both my rims and many sets of tires will be long since happily turned to dust before any benefits realized {who do you know running retreads on their MS?}... maybe the next Hummer will have on-board Nitrogen generation, because apparently using a tire gauge "stirs up rust" inside your tire... but if I could get my MS to go 500 knots and 45,000 feet, I'd sure jump on the Nitrogen bandwagon!!)

The nitrogen fill from Costco and others is free. I't can't hurt.

I've got Bridgestone A/T Revos also and have never had a problem with them on or off road, wet or dry, I would recommend these. cost is around $140.00 per tire.
