Well last night I added an Alpine 50x4 amp to my Alpine Type R Speakers and they sound awesome!!! But the real topic of this thread is that I moved the CD Player to the bottom DIN slot so I don't have to take my drink out of the cupholder to change the CD. All I had to do was widen the sides of the bottom plastic piece by a few mm and the CD Player slid right in. The only problem is that the black tray doesn't fit on the top opening so I'm going to get a new one from Circuit City.

let me know what you find as far as getting a replacement tray for the top DIN. i've been wanting to try this as well, but was waiting to see if it was even possible. thanks for taking the step for me.

went to Best Buy today and they have an aftermarket DIN pocket that is supposedly universal but doesn't list Mitsubishi as a make that it is meant for . . . does anyone know of a place to get an aftermarket DIN pocket FOR a 99 MS?

I'm not sure what you mean by a DIN pocket, but I've found a place to get the modified 13 pin DIN cable (10 Pin) that the infinity radios use to attach to the separate CD player.
You can search the net for "Kenwood 13 din" and I've found that it's the same one Mitsu uses.
Ebay has the white plastic connector that attaches to the back of the head unit.
The only connector that I haven't looked for is the 6 DIN pin that connects the inifinity mitsu radios to the infinity amp.
email and I send the info if it helps, Chips

alright . . . i finally finished the moving of my stereo to the lower DIN spot and it looks like it could be factory apart from the aftermarket headunit. it did take a little bit of work, but it looks good and works great. i ended up getting an aftermarket pocket designed for nissans. the back holes fit into the montero sport stereo bracket back holes but new front holes had to be drilled. no big deal. it fits into the top spot great now. fitting the stereo in the bottom spot required drilling new holes in the bracket for the bracket to screw into the intstrument panel. i also had to trim down the bracket lip a little bit to make it fit. all is said and done and i maintained a factory look. i'm pleased. and i only had a couple of screws left over. they fell out of the dash while i was working. they obviously weren't doing anything since they just fell out, though so i'm not that worried. i'm assuming that they were left loose from when i had Best Buy install a remote starter for me. no biggy. but if anyone knows some likely culprits for places screws might fall out in the dash, let me know . . . for now i'm happy to be able to change cd's without spilling my drink.
