I went through the drivers side using the same rubber harness grommet as the main harness. Be sure that you are FUSED prior to this spot as harness meltdown would surely SUCK if something were to happen to your main cable. I managed to squeeze a 4gauge cable through this area so it can be done.

You need to be running some serious power back there if your trying to run 1 gauge otherwise you're just wasting your time and money. I'd have my doubts running 2 guage as it stands as far as fitment.

Joel, CA when you say to be sure that you are fused prior to this spot do you mean having the fuse inside the cab or under the hood? probably a stupid question, but i was a little confused. thanks

Under the hood- a short at that location near the firewall will result in the fuse blowing. If the fuse was placed after the firewall in the cab- a short at the firewall will cause instant meltdown including the surrounding harness.
If you are referring to electrical interference like noise induction or RFI interference.. i haven't had any problems. It might be a good idea to keep any high current wires away from any SRS wiring though.

i ran the wire thru the grommet and put a fuse about 5 inches from the positive terminal, its running quite well and im satisifed, no interference/humming, now to find the time to tuck the 3 wires in. (RCA, remote switch, and of course the now famous lead). damn, cant wait to start fumbling around with 2 more amps.

My 4 guage can not handle the power right now. So a upgrade to 1/0 to a distribution block is next. I will also be upgrading the BIG3. My optima battery does not hurt either. After these few upgrades a new alt will probably be on the way. say 220 apms

dont forget to upgrade your ground wire when you do your power. They should both be the same otherwise you are defeating the purpose....

Update. Got the 1/0 guage ran. It squeezed in there nicely. I am now getting less voltage drops due to the system.

Where is the rubber harness grommet on the 2001 MS. Do I need to remove the stereo?
