Okay, here's my deal (I have a 2002 MS with infinity system). I have a Kenwood Sirius plug-n-play tuner with an FM modulator (pretty crappy FM modulator I might add). I'm toying around with getting a new sirius-ready HU, but in the meantime would like to know if I can plug the tuner I have now into the infinity stereo (it has an RCA connection). Don't want to mess around with taking the stereo out if there's no hope anyway. Any input out there?

You want to make sure what that RCA connection is befor pluging in to it. I don't know for sure. But it could be a Pre out, Aux in, Or go to a CD changer.

So my question is if there is are RCA input jacks on the back of the stock infinity stereo? Or is there just an input for the CD changer? Thanks, Pross

i don't think many cars come stock from the factory with RCA pre-outs, usually something you see in aftermarket radios. My '01 only has the CD changer input, i think someone has posted somewhere a link for a converter, search the mobile forums.
the tuner you have now has RCA inputs or RCA outputs? how does it get power?
i'm interested in this too because i'm going to add satellite soon and was worried about the FM modulator working like crap. Might have to upgrade the HU just like you are thinking.

I have the Kenwood here2anywhere. It requires a purchase of a car-dock, which has a built-in FM mod. The dock provides power via the lighter outlet. I bought it because it slides right into the pocket below the stereo (but not too far in because that would cover the vents) and found it cheap on Ebay. Here's the link to it: www.kenwoodusa.com/product/product.jsp?productId=2536But looking at some mits infinity stereos on ebay, looks like just a CD changer input on the back, and I don't know of any converter to plug into the changer input which would allow me to plug my rca cables into . I'm a sirius guy, but unfortunately the XM set-ups with Pioneer are much nicer than the Kenwood Sirius HUs . Supposedly there's going to be some compatibility changes where every maker has to provide a Sirius and XM tuner, so I guess I'll just listen to some occasional static until then....

I just returned my satellite plug and play unit because the Infinity system really lets you hear how bad the sound is. Hard wiring is the way to go. I am trying to figure out hwo to hard wire an iPod into the factory Infinity. It already sounds great so I do not see a reason to buy a new head unit unless it costs more to custom fit to the Infinity head unit.
