I am getting ready to install a 600 watt kenwood amp in my '01 Montero Sport. I have a KVT-715DVD head unit with the brain box installed behind the back seat. I am looking for a way to run the amp wires from the inside of the vehicle to the battery, but cannot locate a suitable opening. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If you pull out the large rubber grommet for the main engine wiring harness (under the brake fluid resevoir area), you can run the positive cable alongside with it through the firewall. Pop the grommet back in place and you've got a waterproof and stealth entry point into your vehicle. Wrapping the cable in a black wire loom will completely hide your install. I've got a 4ga cable running alongside the harness at that exact location. Be sure the power cable is FUSED at the battery just in case.... should that wire be pinched or shorted to ground for some reason- it's likely to melt down and take the main engine harness with it. Be sure to poke it THROUGH the grommet alongside the harness so that it's surrounded by rubber. Dont push the wire through the firewall and leave the grommet hanging. I've seen other Sports that had wires like that and not only does it look cheap- it's an electrical short waiting to happen!
Good luck!
