i think you should do yourself a favor and save up some money for some good equipment. when i first started getting into car audio, i bought cheap and all that happened was i wanted better stuff shortly after installing. also 15" are a sloppy speaker. 12" have a really nice sound to them. and i have 600 watts going to my subs and my truck puts some of my friends with more wattage to shame. in an suv you can really get a lot of bass without a lot of power, just make sure its clean power. also try ebay you can get new speakers for the same or less than the links posted above. getting a good sound for less than 300 is going to be a challenge but do-able. also something to think about, at my store we recommend half of your wattage in bass to power vocals (ex 500watts bass 250 watts vocals). your radio, no matter what it says on the front does not put out 50 x 4. this rating is for when you have the radio at full blast, going downhill with the wind at your back and is the most under the perfect circumstance it can put out. RMS is the rating you should look at on any audio equipment as it is the power the component can play without blowing clipping or just sounding like crap

Thanks for the advice, but what makes 15's a slobby speaker? and I have 4, 6" sony xplod 65rms 250 peak, should i get amps to power them 2 peak? What's the best woofer listed from those links then fiyahfibun. And What kinda sub wattage will leave the car next 2 me vibrating and ppl hear me coming up the street. or is wattage not what i'm looking for? Does magnet weight a key factor, what acutally does it determine?

first when i say sloppy i mean that a 10" or 12" has a nice tight sound (10 being the tightest) that you just cant get out of a 15. you will also pay less for a smaller speaker if cost is important. you should not put the sonys to peak power as they will blow for sure. i would get about 600-1000 watts if you really want it to bang (rms power of course). i dont think magnet size is as important as the sensitivity rating (usually for a sub it will be 85-95db) the higher the number the better. although you should have a decent size magnet on the woofer.

your advice really made me think and some of my friends that hav systems in there car too. I took back all that sony ****, got a panasonic head unit a CQ-C7301. I'm debating on what 6.5 speakers 2 get, either a pair of audiobahn 3-way 100rms 200 peak for the front and back or www.caraudiodeals.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_52&products_id=94 Audiobahn component speakers 140 rms www.caraudiodeals.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_52&products_id=96in the front and those audiobahn 6.5 speakers3 ways in the back or soundstream component speakers 150 rms in the front hotbuyselectronics.com/item_detail.php?item_id=108408 and those audiobahn 6.5 3-ways in the back? But the soundstream component system is 3 ohms and that confuses me. Should get a amp 2 power all four of the 6.5 speakers? I'm hav plans 2 buy an orionH2 10" or 12" sub and a amp with that. Is it possible 2 power 2 amps one at like 4ch 1200 watts for the 6.5 speakers and near 2500-3000 watt speaker for the orion sub? Price is no a big factor cus i relized it will be ****, if i go cheap.I think all there will be like $750-950 total, it will be completed by like jan.06. My 1st step was the head unit now i'm doing 6.5 speaker and possible an amp same time for it so i can save trouble of wiring twice. Thanks for ur help, fiyahfibun,it seem like nobody else here cares or knows enough 2 help with this subject.

i have a JVC head unit running to 2 pioneer 10" subs in a sealed custom enclosure powered by a jensen 750W amp w/ a remote bass controller in mine and it beats the hell out of my head. at full bass i have a lot of rattling. i have a friend who has 2 12" adiobahn subs in a jeeb grand cherokee and mine sounds a lot more clean. i agree that you may want to go with a smaller speaker than a 15" for sound quality reasons. i am very happy w/ my setup. the only thing i am changing is my factory speakers. i'm going to replace them w/ a component set in front and rear doors.

Ok, good thing I dropped in here. First things first. A 15" driver is no more "sloppy" or "slow" than any given driver size. It will be just as accurate as a 10" driver. Heck an 8" driver will be just as accurate as an 18" driver. I suggest you read this file. www.adireaudio.com/Files/TechPapers/WooferSpeed.pdf It will educate you on a speakers moving mass and what effects it. Next RMS = Root mean square. Is the measured output power of an amplifier at a given ohm load and voltage. It is the actual output power of the device. Max is basically a useless number. The device will never reach maximum power. Well unless it was struck by lightning while being thrown through the reactor core of a nuclear power plant, while lit on fire. Brands to stay away from are Pyle ;)Legacy, pyramid, volfenhag, DHD, some Sony, some Audiobahn. These brands are pretty much on the low end of equipment available. And product reliability and quality are not worth the money. on a $300 budget, your best bet is to wait for a little more money. If you can't then try to pick up a 2005 Alpine type-r on ebay. And a Hifonics tx1005d. This should run you about $250-$325 and be a decent daily system. cgi.ebay.com/2005-ALPINE-TYPE-R-SWR-1222D-12-1500w-SUBWOOFER-SUB_W0QQitemZ5831139651QQcategoryZ18803QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemikesound.com/product-product_id/2858Build a proper ported box, and run it @ 1ohm. Set the gain with a DMM and a -0db test tone and you should be set Any further questions. Just ask:)

When it comes to subs look at. Memphis, JL, JBL, Alpine, Brahma, RE, Image Dymanics, Diamond Audio, Treo. And asl stated Hifonics is a good amp that won't break the bank. And for Comps look at CDT's, Aplines, and Infinities.
