Been reading here, now I am wondering. What is up with the radio codes. My manual says nothing about it. And...does my vehicle have a built in amp. I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Montero Sport ES

The radio codes are part of the anti-theft system. As you purchased the car used, the previous owner should have given you the code that came when the vehicle was new. In the event that you can't get the code, take the vehicle to a dealer. They will provide another for a fee. If your car has the Infinity system, then there is an amplifier installed.

I'm pretty sure the alarm was installed aftermarket. I unplugged the stock radio as I am getting ready to install my Panasonic from another vehicle. When I plugged it back in, it worked. It did not ask for a code.
The radio does not say Infinity. I am assuming it is the generic cd/fm stereo. There are not any speakers in the dash. Is all of the wiring there to add the tweeters?
When I took out the stock radio there was a cable plugged into the back. Not the wiring harness or the antenna, but another one. Is that supposed to be for a cd changer used in conjunction with the stock?
Thanks for your help.
