I have a 2000 Montero Sport with a 3.0 Liter 181HP 6G72 engine. I want to replace it with a 3.0 Liter 282HP 6G72TT engine from a 1993 3000 GT. Does anyone know if the bell housing and motor mounts are the same? Has anyone else done anything like this?
I love my Montero Sport but really needs some power...

yes the bell housing is the same. only problem i am runnin into is the DOHC part. our motor is a SOHC of course and i havent gotten the chance to put mine in yet, but it looks like the left side (drivers side) valve cover will hit the brake vacum cylinder. if you get the swap done first let me know if it does or not.
the blocks itself is the same as ours 6G72, only theres is DOHC and the one you refered to 6G72TT is also Twin Turbo. so everything should in theory match up i.e. transmission do to the fact that the blocks are the same. well hope this answered some questions.

Its gonna be tight baby! Good luck... If you find a place for 2 turbos and the necessary intercoolers & plumbing, definitely post it!

weah real tight with the turbos. i may do this in the future - the tt it should put me around 250hp at the wheels but that is a way down the road. u will prob need to get a stand alone to get the most out of it and make the ecu part of the swap eaiser. or u could get the stage 1 cams from rpw and cam gears from fidanza, set it at -4 degrees and have about 25 extra horses at the wheels for alot less money then a swap(check dyno graphs in the gallery under Clays Ride). or swap to a 3.5. check the dyno results post in this section for more info on engine upgrades. by the way, tony, good to hear from u again. have u had a chance to catch up on my mods. clay
