I have a 2000 Sport ES with the lame stock steel wheels. I have taken it to Americas Tire for new wheels(17's), but there seems to be a problem with the hub size. It will only take a wheel with a PUSH-ON center cap. The only wheel I could find that will work is from MB Motoring-style "Precise", but is on 90 day back order. Does anybody know of any other wheels or wheel brands that will fit. I've checked web sites that say their's will fit, but won't because of the hub/cap problem.

Check out the Enkei RTS and RT6. The 6 lug model should fit your MS nicely. But, be sure to check with the seller for fitment before purchasing.

The lug pattern is not the problem. The center cap is. It needs to push(snap) on from the outside. So far, all the wheels I have found, the cap pushes on from the inside out, thus making it impossible for the wheel to fit the hub. The cap blocks the fit of the hub to the wheel. Thanks, Still looking for any help??

You need the hub centric wheels, which centered on the vehicle hubs using center hole/centerbore of wheels. Also, the centerbore size should be around 4.25 inch (not sure the exact measurement) to provide enough clearance for hubs. I believe there is no aftermarket wheels that will let you snap the hub caps from the outside like OEM MS steel wheels. I have a set of Enkei 170 with caps push from inside out. They fit nicely on my 2k MS.

why would you want caps that snap on from the outside? that would make no sense. as far as the lame stock wheels, look at troopers or 4 runners, now there you will find lame!

Hi I went through the same headache and finally found some great looking wheels here in Miami. I have a 2000 ES that came with the real ugly steel rims. If you want some great looking rims look at these. The're aluminum so they save on weight. Look at ADRWHEELS.COM the rims that I got are called NITRO NIT-10 they are five spoke wide wheels with a chrome center cap that looks a lot like the stock center cap and is held by two allen screw from the outside. The're hubcentric and they look great. Good luck to you.

Hey Gonzo I checked those ADR wheels out and they are pretty nice. Any chance you have any pics of them on your Sport? And do you remember what they cost you a piece?

Hi Howard, Sorry I've been a little lazy in keeping up with technology. I bought a small digital camera on the internet but when I loaded the software I had trouble downloading the pictures and I haven't taken the time to figure it out. I can tell you my Montero Sport is black and those things look awesome on it. As matter of fact about two weeks ago I went to Jacksonville to pick up a vw van camper wich I towed back down with the Montero Sport and the guy was drooling all over himself about the wheels and they were dirty at the time. I just found the receipt, I bought them in June last year at a place call Good Roads here in Miami. I paid $169.00 a piece and they were worth it. I went with the 17 in because I felt that when it came time to replace tires it would be easier on the wallet. I also intended to go with a lower profile tire, my montero is two wheel drive, so I don't off road and my concern was safety. With all the rollover accidents that have been going on I figured the wife would have a better chance with the lower profile tire if there ever was a blowout. By the way I work as a nurse at the county hospital on the ortho floor and it seems that the majority of rollover for Suv are the Ford Explorers. I don't know if its because there are so many of them and the numbers just add up in their favor or what but those things scare me. Since we're on the subject, the Montero Sport felt unstable as hell on the road towing the vw van camper. Which by the way it is the equivalent of a small minivan, and I do have experience towing things, I've had a boat for over 10 years and my father has a tow truck business and I've towed all types of vehicles and in the military I towed aircraft. Sorry for the off topic. See ya.

I have seen some nice looking wheels on tirerack.com. they have a machined lip and no protuding center hub. You can see them on their web site on your vehicle BUT I alos saw them on a truck at a dealership and the machined rivets are rusting and for $169 a piece I'm still looking for something better clay
