???Forgive me if this is a topic that has been discussed to death but I have a question about the type of spark plugs to get for my 2000 Sport. She has a 3.0 engine and the dealership is telling me that I need to by Iridium spark plugs, those jokers go for about $40.00 a pop. I want to do the plug and plug wires and the transmission flush as well as the radiator flush on my own and have the dealer do the TB for my 60,000 mile tune up. Any suggestions? Thanks to everybody for all of your time.

Please stick with the factory Iridium Tipped plugs. Just don't buy them from the dealer$hip as the parts mark up will make a grown man . You might be able to special order them from Kragen or other discount auto parts dealer. DO NOT INSTALL SPLITFIRE, BOSCH PLATINUM, OR CHAMPION PLUGS...STICK WITH NIPPONDENSO OR NGK...while your in there...do yourself a favor and replace the wires. If you don't, your taking a chance at having to remove the intake plenum all over again should they fail before your next sparkplug replacement interval. The term flush means to actually perform a complete exchange of fluid by means of "flushing" out the dirty fluid entirely with new fluid until all of the dirty fluid is completely removed. This will require specialized equipment. Draining the fluid from the drainplug will only drain roughly 45-50% of the ATF. A drain and fill for the cooling system is acceptable at this stage, but I would recommend an actual transmission flush at your mileage to remove all of the dirty fluid completely. Joel, CA

:DThank you very much for the info. Funny thing is the plugs are made by a compnay called DENSO according to my owners manual but I cannot find anything really about DENSO or find my plug model number according to my manual. When I went to Advance they did not have a clue about Iridium and funny thing is when I called the dealership they did not have a clue about the Iridiums either. So I will look at the site you posted and I will do both plugs and wires at the same time. Just a note to the rest of you the 60,000 mile job is probably just as expensive as any high performance sport car job that gets done. Something ain't right here. Thanks again.

Iridium Tipped plugs are the latest technology in spark plugs- they supposedly perform BETTER than platinum tipped spark plugs (with was factory equipt in the 97-98 3.0l MS)
