I am looking for some audio advice based on the following goals/requirements:
1) Must keep stock stereo/cd player in dash 2) Only replacing speakers in factory 6 1/2, 6 3/4 locations (front and rear door locations) 3) Ability to hide an amp 4) All for under $400 5) All of this so the wife doesn't know I spent several hundred bucks!
So, based on that- what are your speaker/amp suggestions? I already have an Alpine 6 disc CD changer added (taken from my other vehicle).

Exact same setup on my sport except for the custom sub box on the rear. (hidden by rear trunk cover)
Did not want to attract thieves so everything looks stock. If you look at the dashboard, lower left and right there are speaker locations there too.
Truck now has 12 speakers including the 2 10inch subs.

i'd recommend mb quart components either the discus or reference line. go to thezeb.com for the cheapest prices on mb quart. these will come with tweets and x-overs. you could power the aftermarket speakers without an amp but it would be cleaner at higher volumes with one. i dont know of any good inexpensive amps. i deal with the high end stuff. i'm not familiar with hooking up amps to factory head units. i put my amp for my subs under one of the panels in the cargo area.

Made my decision:
Front door speakers: 6 3/4" Kicker 02K65 2 ways Rear door speakers: 6 3/4" Kicker RMB6 Mid-bass (also made to be used as open air subs) Amp: Alpine MRP 40W X 4
Total with Shipping = $495 (I went over my budget goal of $400- but when do I ever stick to bidget when it comes to modifying my MS!)
Thanks for the help!

dont use them as free-air. free-air subs are a joke. keep them in an enclosure.
