Hi,
Whats the easiest way to add an amp and a sub to the stock Infinity stereo?
I was told by a friend that if I change the stereo the infinity speakers wont work with it, is this true?
Also, can I add bass blockers to the stock speakers?
Thank's,
Frehley76

not familiar with the infinity system but i've heard that it has an internal amp that needs to be removed. you do not need bass blockers for your stock speakers. after you add your sub/amp you will turn the bass from the head unit all the way down and the treble all the way up and just control the sub by your sub out controls.

When i first got my 97' MS i had the same problem about figuring out how to connect an amp to the infinity stereo. Well this is what i had to do: There is an amp that comes from the factory with the infinity system, depending on your year, it's either under the carpet under the passenger seat, or between the body and the inner body in the right rear quater panel above the RR fender well. There is no way to install a amp to this system, because there are no RCA jacks on the back of the factory stereo, The factory amp and the CD player are pluged in using special Din plugs, and you can't find a convertor for them, believe me i tried. I installed an after market stereo (JVC ELkameleon) and used the factory speakers for a while until i could afford new speakers. You just have to re route the speaker wires from the back where the amp was, back to the front, it's not to hard just can get irritating finding out what wires go to each speaker. the only problem with doing all of this is, depending on what stereo you get, it's not good to run all 8 infinty speakers off of the same stereo. Dont do this for long because it could cause your stereo to over heat, you need to replace the factory amp as well as the whatever sub amp you have, This can get pricy! I have 2 amps in mine. The most you are suppose to run off of a stereo Direct wiring, is 4 hince(50x4, or 55x4), i would not run more than that if you are direct wiring into your stereo, All of that depends on what stereo you get. Hope this helps, if you need help figuring out how to remove the amp, and how to get to it, or re wiring your wires, just give me a shout. DAN

Hello Every1...
Frehley76, I got a 2001 MS with the "infinity" radio/cd changer. I added a 2nd Amplifier for a Subwoofer and still have the stock "infinity" radio with its own speakers and the original amp. What I did, since I needed another input source (for a Nomad MP3 player), was to get 2 Adapters (from Soundgate) models MITSRCVR and MITSAMP, which will go to the back of the head unit DIN plug to RCA. From there I added a Pre-amp (which needed some kind of voltage magnifier), I don't know the name of that little thing, but the radios' output voltage is very little, so this thing will turn on the pre-amp. From the regular output of the pre-amp went from RCA back to the DIN which you can plug back to the cable that goes to the original Amp. Hardly any work at all. Then, from the pre-amp subwoofer output you go to the new amplifier, and back there the subwoofer.
The Soundgate adapters go for $29.95 each, but you get to keep the stock radio which no one would steal since it needs the code, blah, blah, blah...
And in case you are wondering of the cuotes, well, the stock radio with the infinity lable it's NOT an infinity radio. At least not mine model U069 with a cd changer model P806. The radio is Mitsubishi, the changer is Panasonic, and the amplifier is Harman-Motive.
Hopefully this will help.... Opy

Hi,
Thank's for all your help guys! I might try what Opy did. I want to keep the stock system, but it needs some extra bass.
Thank's again,
