Hey People I am planning in changing my air filter to the Injen Kit. My question is...will this void my warranty. When I asked the person in the dealership, he said it will void warranty only if it damages something. ..which does not make sense to me. Secondly. has anybody seen an airfilter damage another part??? Any clarification would be great. I kinda dont want to void warranty sice I decided to purchase extended warranty on my 03 MS XLS

Any upgrade to your current setup is a fine addition to your engine so long as it's properly installed and the equipment came from a reputable source. I have added intakes on my MonSport and Eclipse and both are functioning well . This simple bolt-on will not mess up your engine since it's just taking away the air flow restriction that you currently have with the stock intake. The box covering your stock intake is a preventive tool so that water and dirt would not get into your engine thus drastically reducing airflow. Since you own a XLS (3.5 engine?) I've not seen a complete intake setup for it. I just ordered a cone filter and MAS adapter for my limited and the engine roars lively when stepping on the gas pedal. Hope this helps. AL

Sup guy, just a suggestion. I did a little research before I ordered stuff for my 3.5L LIM MS. I took the MAS adapter and filter (INJEN INTAKE) from my 99 turbo eclipse and placed it on my montero. What do you know? It's an exact match. With this knowledge, I ordered a MAS adapter and cone filter from extrememotorsports.com for a 99 turbo eclipse to place in my MS. This setup cost me less than a $100. Half the price of a HKS intake. Since you are thinking about getting a mandrel bent tube to install from the MAS to the throttle, this will make your setup complete. Also you are thinking of getting an INJEN intake? Your better of just getting the filter from K&N since this is the same filter INJEN use. Let me know of the outcome.

Main reason why I was going Injen is because I was lookng at the cold air setup. Injen does not sell the pipings only and I really like the way it looks

The Injen intake system is NOT a cold air set up. Incoming air is taking in directly from the engine compartment (which has been heated). All Mitsubishi models share the same adapter pattern as far as MassAirflow sensors go- you should be able to use an adapter made for another Mitsu vehicle, on you MS.

Joel, CA You are right Joe..The cold Air Piping is an extension that I will need to purchase in addition to the Injen system... The additional pipe is removable for those rainy & snowy days...AEM also makes a really nice kit but is Damn Expensive

What I'm gonna have to do is custom fabricate the extra piping to make it look descent. I'm trying to find a shop locally that actually stocks the kit but the once I've been in are pre-orders. I wanted to see how much piping I will actually need cause if its gonna cost me $400.00 for the whole thing..I might as well get all the pipings madrel bent for me and powder coat it. Roadrace Engineering sells the adapter and filter pretty cheap. I keep the forum updated

I've thought about trying to create a cold air source for my Injen, but just couldn't find a way to extend the intake/filter system away from the engine's heat (similar to the AEM system) without tearing up the engine compartment....(not willing to do that). Let me know what you come up with.
