Speaking of oil weights. I'm thinking about going to a heavier weight to slow some leakage in the valve seal. Reading in the manual of weight ranges it listed 20W-30. Has any of you tried this weight or similar, and what was the after effects .. Loss of milage ? valve seals dry rot over time, if you idle the engine, take off, smokes, yes valve seals, if highway driving, burns oil, wiper rings around pistons broken.
5w-20 to 20w-50, w is the winter weight, next weight is heat expanded weight. if you ran 90-140 gear oil the valve seals would still leak.
over heating caused by lack of antifreeze, turns the valve stems into cherry red stems causing rubber seals to melt, some times warping the head, head gasket to leak, so on, so on...
