I have been told that the 98 model has round rear lights and then it changes to square in the 99. Is this one way to tell the difference between the two. I am confused because I looked at Joel's on this forum and his are square even though his is a 98.
thanks

Mine is '98 and the rear bumper reflectors are round. I'd gladly trade my bumper for one with rectangular reflectors.
Jvel, Joel's '98 is composed of parts of other models also. He had a post on the old running board about it....rims from a Montero, switched out rear molding and taillights from a later model Sport and also stuck the bumper guards on the door exteriors from the 2000 (I believe). Maybe this'll prompt another full explanation from him...haha

Okay- here it goes... Chrome Grille, Bumper integrated fog lamps, rectangle rear bumper reflectors, integrated running boards, illuminated drivers and passenger vanity mirrors, and heated side view mirrors are from a 99 MS LTD model Door Mouldings (painted to match), Black tailgate moulding, factory woodgrain dash/window switches, black edged tail lamps are from the newer 2K model MS LTD. Wheels are from a 98 Full Size Montero I also installed a sunglass holder from a 99 Mirage between the A and B pillar (removed the plastic pop rivets to reveal screw mounts)- fit's perfectly and matches exact. These are the list of items from other Mitsubishi makes/models that I've purchased by either using my discount or by purchasing on auction...etc. I wanted to do something that seperated my MS from the rest... I think with the offroad package you get the squared lights in back. At least on the 98s anyway. Steve I have a 98 and mine are squared too. I also have the external tire mount on mine.
