Just installed spectra CAI and had to modify a little bit for the MAF. Seems to be a slight gap between the MAF and adapter plate. Is this normal, if not what adjustments can I make. Also my Check engine light is on, is this due to the gap or new CAI. Thanks for the help

Seal the gap or get on eBay and get a real Mitsubishi mag adapter that is designed for our mafs and doesn't require removing the black plastic price. Hanes are Mac is reading false air and throwing a code

Ok installed a MAF that fits perfectly and what difference that made in sound and "performance". Anyway there's some RPM fluctuations at idle and also shift points seem different. Is this normal?

that one i cant say anything on because mine is a 5spd. reset your ecm by disconnecting the battery, you are puling more air now so that may have screwed with what the ecm had set before

Ya I did that but eventually threw the code again. I don't think it's that big of an issue though. Seems to be driving good. About to drive 500 mile back to Lubbock so I'll definitely know if it's screwing with my mpg

The 500 mile trip back gave me an average of 19mpg which is great because I had about 1000 extra pounds of Christmas gifts. Same weight before the CAI gave me 17.2mpg. Went to advance auto parts to get the trouble code read and he didnt give me the code but said it was probably bad gas which is hard to believe. He erased the code and I'm throwing in some B12 to the gas tank so we'll see what happens.
