Hey guys you know those two cubbies in the back walls of the sport? Well I've got an idea of putting 6x9s back there so I can get my sub box out of there and have more room for other crap. Do y'all think this would work as an alternative for the sub. its only an 8in Rockford Fosgate so its not like I'm looking for comparison to a couple of 12s

you might get good results. can you find an 8" woofer that will squeeze in there? if you filled both cubbies that would be good. i think you'd have to make a front panel that is larger than the cubby opening by a good deal and be able to seal it tight against the exterior. you may or may not want to experiment with ported or not ported cubby. there is not a lot a volume in that cubby, but it might work with the right woofer.

The 8in sub would need a little more depth at least with the one i've got. However I've seen online a few 5in subs eventhough ive never heard of them being that small. A friend of mine suggested fiberglassing a box the exact size of the cubby and fitting it into the cubby. I've never worked with fiberglass before so I don't know about that. I've thought about getting some speaker padding and putting it there then screwing a piece of plywood cut to the square of the cubby then mounting the speaker to that. Whatever was I end up going I'm sure it'll be a fun weekend project and by weekend I mean at least two weekends. Always seems to take me longer to get it right lol

I might have to try those. Found them on Amazon for the same price. I just might give them a try. Thanks for the find

i wouldn't do that, the 6x9 need IB, so no enclosure, front sealed off and then open in the back.
