After starting the monty will almost stall out sometimes. Sometimes it happens immediately after starting, it will seem like it is having trouble getting proper air for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it happens after I have driven down the road a few hundred feet when i will loose accelerations but then it will pick back up.
It doesn't happen often and seems to happen more often when it is cold.
What is causing this? Fuel pump? Air flow Sensor?

Happens to mine some times too, especially after long decelerations down hills (I have a manual) when I push the clutch in, the rpms drop really low (rarely), like 250-500 rpms, but then pick up again.
Same happens when starting cold too like you mentioned, shoots up to 1700-2000 rpms then would drop down to like 500 rpms for a split seconds (sounds like it's about to die) then shoots back and settles down.
Yup, happens to my engine too, 3.0L v6 in a 98 ls.. Wouldn't worry about it, just the ecu adjusting for air temperature, idle speed, fuel mixture adjustments, etc...
