Ed what about a dual tip? Bad idea? Also what resonator size do you recommend to get the growl without the annoying tone on the highway? I live at about 5-6K feet and definetly noticed the low end torque..... Which was wierd because on my little Honda I ended up with more top end sacrificing low end.

There's no point in any of that and in most cases that stuff doesn't flow as well as a plain pipe and muffler. We're talking about a 3.0L or 3.5L NA engine. You can't pump enough air through to overload a 2.25" pipe. Which is why going to the 2.5"+ screws up bottom end torque so much. If you're really trying to increase performance and MPGs, work on straightening everything out and not adding gee-gaws. It can be done easily with the right muffler. Kinda one of the nice things about the zillion Flowmaster configurations - you can get pretty creative. Work on getting rid of or minimizing as many bends as possible and getting rid of any tight bends. You want as few as possible and as gradual as possible. If you want to go really nutty - and you can find someone that can do it - go with mandrel bends. They really do make a difference in flow but its extremely expensive to have pipes done and IMHO pointless unless you're building a race vehicle. (this is one of those, if you have to ask, you don't need it things) I'd worry more about having a good exhaust guy. If they don't join the pipes, flanges, etc. correctly you'll end up with restrictions inside the pipe that'll cancel out everything else you're doing. Oh, good God. There's no way to answer that question. Sound is totally subjective. I LIKE the middle Flowmaster tone with the shield, but my friend always hated it and thought it was annoying and loud. CoSport liked the Dynomax but I couldn't stand it. Sounded too much like a rice rocket for me. Almost everyone likes the Flowmasters on my 'Bird except for a couple friends and my dad and they say it sounds like the exhaust is dumping into an empty dumpster. I like the tone from my SuperTraps, too, but EVERYONE I know hates 'em. All I can suggest is to err on the quiet side if you're worried about sound levels. Especially with Flowmaster. If they say it'll be loud, then it'll be loud. At least with them, I haven't seen an appreciable difference in performance between their different 'models'. However, because I'm not dealing with 500cid engines, I can get a 'big', 'quieter' muffler without having it affect flow. Edward

Yeah I was only thinking about the dual tip for astetics (looks) and I was wanting a deeper tone and avoiding the ricey sound, something beefy

Tone is dictated in a large part by displacement. The more displacement, the lower the tone. Changing from the 3.0L to the 3.5L on my big Sport actually lowed the tone a good bit. Sounds more like a small v8 now - that's with the same exhaust system the 3.0L was running on. Don't know how much you'll be able to affect that with just a muffler change. Edward
