I feel my 97LS has an electrical system that's just adequate for daily use, if I were to add multiple off road lights is there a recommended electrical system upgrade (larger/higher capacity battery), larger battery cables, higher output alternator? I see a lot of pics with decked out rigs with a ton of lights and was curious if you guys were getting away with the OEM set up.

A lot of lights? if you mean like the big KC lights, or just lights for overall sight? Most people run LED light bars and such nowadays which use less draw on the Electrical system. Other than that if you want a ton of Flood lights, than you would need to get a larger Alternator.

I have up to six lights on at a time. The 140-160 amp alternator I have works awesome with a NAPA gold battery. 1000 CCA!

I see a lot of pics with decked out rigs with a ton of lights and was curious if you guys were getting away with the OEM set up. Separate light harnesses going to high amperage +/- junction blocks (100+ amp). Fused 4GA or 2GA from the junction blocks to the battery. Depending on the wattage of all the lights, 150+ amp alternator. Fused 2GA +/- from the alternator direct to the battery. (my new wiring uses a Blue Sea fuse +/- fuse block - that'll work, too) Make sure all the lugs are crimped and soldered and use high grade cable. If you're going to go to higher wattage bulbs in the head lamp assemblies, make sure to get a REALLY GOOD stock headlight by-pass harness. Don't use the 80/100 bulbs in the 2000+ headlight housings unless you want to melt something. The stock charging wiring and alternator at its best isn't up to more than 80/100 H3 headlights and a pair of big off-road lights especially if you start turning on accessories. I used to run a set 8" IPFs with 80/100 H3 headlight bulbs and a 10" Bazooka sub with a Optima 1000 cca blue-top deep cycle starting battery on the stock alternator. That MOSTLY kinda worked ok. 6-8 hours of wheeling, though would really drag the battery down so I had to be careful when I was needing to turn the vehicle off. Edward
