ive been having my service light come on for the last year intermittantly. EG on for a few hours then off for a few days then back on for a week then off for awhile and so on. No noticible pattern in occurance or duration etc
While i was having a brake job,I asked the tech to see what the display message light meant on my instrument cluster(service light on).
He said that no info came up in the computer,so he thought it was some kind of electrical glich, short etc. he suggested I take it to an auto elect tech. Any other ideas besides what he suggested? Ever heard of this occuring?
Im not sure if this should be a separate post or if its still considered related to a prior post (listed at the end of this ) I started this as a new topic when it might be a sort of a continuation of the following "stagnant" post titled: "Engine service light on " (date Nov 5 2013 @1930)

I am not sure but if you have a 03 (I think that is what you said it was) it might be something for an oil change. Not sure if the Sports had the Service light and engine light.

03 don't have the "service light" just the check engine light. On the other hand it could be your gas cap. When is not tight properly or the seal is cracked, that will trigger the light.

i tried a new gas cap and the "service engine soon" didnt go out. Would a sensor sense oil that has run "too long"?

could be a bad gas cap or a broken tail light was throwing that SES light on?
