I have a few questions that I can't seem to find in my search. I am going to do a tuneup with sparkplug and wire set install on my MS 01, what plugs can I use and recommended wire set? I was looking and reading the DIY section on it and it looks like its a bear to tackle for a simple tuneup, any feedback or comments would be most appreciated on this task I am undertaking. Thanks!

It's ridiculous how they designed it. I used ngk or denso iridium. I would go oem wires. I would do valve cover gasket as well just so you only go in once. I didn't and now regretting it. Main thing us iridium plugs and you should go be good.

The tune up was a pain! but accomplished, I used NGK iridium plugs, NGK wire set, replaced plenium gaskets and valve cover gaskets, I found the cylinder head on the driver side back has been burning coolant and that means a complete head job is coming up maybe next spring. I just had replaced like 5 ounces of coolant last week in the reservoir but its not over heating yet. The book calls for about 10-11 hrs labor on heads R/R. Thanks to jay4x4 for recommending doing the valve cover gaskets. The passenger side plugs were oil soaked.

There are two or three coolant hoses that are small and on the rear of the engine bay that could leak. The one that leaked on mine though was the coolant line right under the throttle body. It leaked for awhile and I thought I was burning coolant. Little bugger was hard to track down! Lol

Oh and BD good advice on coolant lines. I've been slowly losing coolant as well and couldn't find the leak is will take a look there.

I've had good luck running Bosch dual and quad tip plugs, but LOTS of people have had problems with those. YMMV, and if it does, it's going to be an EXPENSIVE and or time consuming fix to switch back to normal plugs. The techs cringe and spend 20 minutes telling me not to use these every time I go in for plugs and wires. The techs where I go strongly recommend the NGK iridium. Never heard of anyone having problems with those and they last a good long time, too. As for the rest, read ... REALLY bad gas miliage - REFERENCEThe under-hood stuff and flex pipe should be checked when you do a tuneup (since you're already there). Edward

I did use the NGK iridium plugs last owner had Densos in it and I took a chance on the NGK wire set. They fit really well very close to the OEM ones for fit. Truck runs smoother than before the tune up. Thank you all for your time and input here.
