Here's a short little video I threw together from last weekend at the dunes. Enjoy! .... Nice! Interesting front bumper setup. No running warm issues on the highway? Edward

Also interested in that bumper setup. Not very durable. God help you if you hit anything with it. But, then, that's not a crawler bumper. Don't expect he's face planting it into big rocks. Still interesting. I'd be looking at doing a little venting in the aluminum so that it gets a little more air flow into the radiator and doesn't block the cooler lines on the bottom of the radiator support. Edward

Edward Definitely not something to use to smash into things, but definitely gets rid of the stock bumper and gives you some extra clearance up front.

Edward I haven't had any problems with it overheating since I built the bumper. It actually is able to still get a lot of air flow, especially since everything is so much more open now. I love how it looks on my Montero, definitely one of my favorite additions to it. I also just put in a cold air intake on it, and it has only gotten better. Bumper didn't affect air flow to that either.

Edward Definitely not something to use to smash into things, but definitely gets rid of the stock bumper and gives you some extra clearance up front. My main reason for building the bumper was just to add to the look and open up the wheel wells, and also so I could mount that light bar. But the bumper actually turned out to be really solid too. It is made of DOM tubing and the skid plate is 3/16" thick. It'll definitely hold up well if I hit something with it, but yeah it isn't a full on crawler bumper so obviously it wouldn't be as solid as that. However, I may add in some more support soon so then it'll be even more solid. I thought about venting the aluminum, but since i haven't had any problems with airflow or overheating I don't think I will.

I'd be interested in seeing some up close picture of how its all setup. Idk if you've seen my other post in the showroom board or not, but if you haven't, those pics may give you a better idea of how it is. I'll try to throw some more pics of it up here sometime when I get the chance, especially after I add in the supports on the sides if I end up doing that too. It definitely is solid right now, but those extra supports should really do the trick to beef it up even more haha. Here's some more info on it too: The DOM is 1 and 3/4" diameter with a 1/8" wall, and the bumper is a bolt-on that attaches to the frame with 3 grade 8 bolts on each side.

I'll have to take a look at that thread when I get home, work computer blocks a lot of images unfortunately. I want to build one for my rig, but I also don't want to increase the weight by much from the factory one.

Yeah I totally know what you mean, that's exactly what I said when I was thinking about building it. I don't know exactly how much weight I added, but I feel like it couldn't have been more than like 50 lbs max. The bumper didn't weigh it down at all; I never noticed a difference, which shocked me since I had been expecting it to. That's the good thing about the prerunner style bumper. It is simple and doesn't require too much material. For pushing 33's and a built front bumper my monty is still chugging along just fine.

No, from the looks I wouldn't expect much more than about 60 lbs or so. Nice that its lite. The ARB bull bars are nice and well built but they are HEAVY. Adding a winch to that really dumps a ton of weight on the front. Edward
