Talking about skidplates, seems sll are missing from boneyard. Being you would have to remove them for an oilchange. Anyone have a pattern of one? Heard somone say it helps milage?

While mine was getting powder coated, I also removed the spare tire. Figures less weight better gas mileage. But after 2 weeks them off I got about 1.5 mpg less. Part of that might have been me pushing it harder then usual. But know once they were back on my milage returned to the usual roughly 18 average.

The upper front and lower front will affect mileage, I'm sure. Having those missing is going to create a lot of turbulence right at the front bottom since you loose that nice smooth radius from the front to the lower bottom. Makes sense. The third one that goes under the t-case - I can't imagine that having any affect as the Sport already has a pretty flat smooth belly. Edward

The lower front is easy enough to have made. Do you have a metal supplier around that supplies aluminum sheet and has a sheet metal sheer and a brake? A recycled seller is usually a good bet. We have one here in Denver that sells nothing but 'used' stock. For about $40-50 they'll cut, bend and sell a 5/16" or 1/4" T6061 sheet that all you need to do is notch and drill the holes and mount it to your Sport. Three holes in the back sub-frame need to be drilled for mounting. Two holes in the front plate and those go to the stock front holes. And you need to 'cut' three 2" diameter pucks from the same thickness aluminum. I use the scrap from the 'notches' to create the pucks. The pucks go between the sub-frame and the skid plate. Its not incredibly pretty but its extremely durable. The stock lower is just flimsy 16-18 gauge sheet metal. Edward

For the bottom front plate 1/4" is the lightest you want to go. 5/16" worked good on my big Sport before it became the big Sport but I really beat the crap out of it. 5/16"s is just overkill for most everyone. Thinner than 1/4" will crack if you smack something with it and the VERY last thing you want is to push that plate into the front diff cover. The upper front is fine. Its pretty heavy as it is. As long as you have one I'd leave it alone. Edward

Is the gas tank skid also the gas tank support? Just asking because I was looking at unboltong that and the odd shaped one that is on the drivers side not far from the drivers door (transfer case skid?) I'm just trying to unbolt as much as I can and still keep car functional while the stuff is powder coated.

I only have the transfer case and the fuel tank. Figures. The one no one cares about. Keep an eye on the salvage yards for the upper front. That's kind of a difficult shape to reproduce. I'll get those measurements tonight and post them up anyway. Edward
