Got new KYB shocks all around on my 2000 but still hard bangging in rear do I need new rubber bushings too.How do I make the rear suspension softer is this common in model. Usually the problem is how to stiffen the back up, not the other way around. The rear suspension on the Gen 2 Sports is pretty soft and usually the last thing you want to do is soften it up more. The KYB gas-adjust shocks are pretty stiff and given that you've just put these on, the issue is probably the new shocks. If you want 'softer', then you probably want to change to a different shock. There are no options for softer coil springs either, if that's what you're really asking. Edward

From the old to new shocks there was no difference still banging Sounds to me like the problem is the suspension is too soft and the vehicle is bottoming out on the bump stops. I assume that you've checked under the vehicle and made sure everything is ok mechanically. If the issue is that the rear suspension is bottoming out, your options are higher rate springs or air bags. Edward

On a whim, if your getting banging from the back, nothing in your storage cubbies (double check) and the rear hatch is seated well (mine needed new weather stripping and adjustment). Also check your spare tire is secured, mine was missing a rubber rest and was loose when I got it. It sounded horrendous. Banged and clank ed every bump.I also had a couple of bushings bade specially the sway bar links. Now it is whisper quiet over bumps. Figure a couple of things to double check quick.
