So when I put on my modified hub caps on after changing to manual hubs, I had to remove the wheels to reinstall the hub cap retention ring. I torque them down and double checked all the lug nuts.
Well I've always been told by dealerships and auto centers to come back and they would retorque the lugs. After numerous trips back to places and them always being tight still I started skipping those return trips. Long story short, I didn't double check and was driving to work yesterday and started to hear a bit of noise and steering shimmy. I was scared my new bearings were going bad. 5 miles later it was pretty bad but I was at work and figured I'd take a 3day weekend and find the culprit and fix it.
B4 leaving work I figured check the lugs, sure enough, drivers front wheel was loose. I probably wouldn't have made the 10 mile trip home with out loosing at least 1 lug nut, if not the whole wheel.
Morale of the story always go back or double check your lug nuts after having a wheel removed for any service

Had that happen on my Audi TT. Dealership left one wheel finger tight. Drove to work all week at 75 miles/day before finding out by accident.
