Just got my MS back together and now the front heater core has sprung a small leak. I know from past experience that the replacement of these things can be a PITA, but just how difficult is it to do in the MS? Anyone here ever done it? If so, did you use a cheaper aftermarket heater core or would it be best to pay double and get the OEM one?

As far as heater cores go, OEM is better just for peace of mind, also I don't know about you but finding aftermarket heater cores is a PITA as all I can ever find is the rear heater core.

Yea, I've checked the hoses. It's leaking inside onto the floorboard just behind the radio. Also, I can smell coolant when running the heater. Luckily, the leak is not yet bad enough to fog up the inside windows. I've had a few hits online for aftermarket heater cores for around $110, but the vendors seem sketchy. There are lots of OEM heater cores available from Mitsubishi dealers for around $250, so I will just go that route. You make a great point about the piece of mind; certainly don't want to be replacing a cheapo China heater core one or two years from now.
