I am the new owner of a 1995 Montero LS 3.0 24 valve sohc as of 4 days ago. I have worked on Chevy/GMC/Jeeps but this is first foreign truck and an entirely different beast. I put new head lights in it yesterday they have been working just fine. Tonight, I was on the way home, turned on my turn signal to turn right and a weird buzzing/sizzling noise started along with that action. I turned off the signal and turned it on again... same thing. I find that it is now making this noise ONLY when it is the right turn signal I am activating and only when it isn't completely locked into place... strange, I know. About 5 minutes after that incident, I turned my headlights up to bright and was cruising along in the rural area I live in. Suddenly my brights went really dim for about 10-15 seconds and then completely out. I quickly clicked my lights back down to dim/regular beam and they were fine. I tried the brights again and nothing came on except for the bright light indicator on my dash. Any ideas anyone? Any and all ideas/tips will be GREATLY appreciated I am also having trouble locating factory service manuals for it but I am diligently searching online every chance that I get.

Sounds like your multi-function control assembly (headlights, turn signals) is worn, or fried. I'd replace it ASAP - this sounds like a fire hazard.
I've done these before on other cars - typically, they unplug from a socket on the steering column after removing a few screws. I'd guess this one is the same. You'll probably have to get the part from the dealer.
I'd be careful running bulbs of a higher wattage than is recommended. The wiring harnesses are not necessarily up to the job, and you run the risk of fire, in the Monty or any car. At a minimum, I'd make sure i carry a fire extinguisher....

Yup- this is a common replacement due to failure on the 2nd Gen Montero. I've read on another forum how some guys have had luck disassembling the turnsignal switch and doing something to the internals as a means of repair. I'd rather replace it.
