Sometimes a few of my warning lights come on: Active skid control, active skid control "off", and ABS. They usually go off after the next time I turn it off and restart, and this could last for a month or a week. Anything I can check before paying to have it looked at? The ABS and traction control work fine while the lights are off, as soon as the lights come on, they don't work- I tested it by jumping in some snow and spinning out.
Also, is this something most independent shops could troubleshoot, or does it need to go to the dealer? I've looked high and low for a repair manual for the truck and can't find one.

Dealer only Factory Service Manual.
If a shop is competent they will know how to troubleshoot it.
