Hollister is about 45 minutes south of San Jose, about 2.5-3 hours north of Cambria/San Luis Obispo. I haven't been to Hollister Hills, yet...I hated missing the NorCal 4x4 "open house" they had. A couple of great golf courses in the area, too. Cheers, Stod Damn, that unfortunately is a little too far south for me. I am definitely gonna have to experience some California off road adventuring in the future. Oh well my time will come. 2000utesport

Paragon started out as a large area of strip mining operations in the coal regions of North Eastern Pennsylvania. Here in the East we 4 Wheelers are rapidly lossing the trails we had come to know and enjoy. This is due to many reasons. Overuse, abuse, development etc. A fellow out of Philadelphia, who runs a nicely set up Toy 4Runner, saw this as an oportunity to buy some of the mining property not being used anymore and developing an offroad park. He offered "use" discounts to some of the large 4 Wheeling Clubs in the area for help in setting up trails and acting as guides. Yes, some work required heavy equipment. The club members mainly did lighter trail work. We basically used exsisting trails and brush cut diversions off of these to promising obsticals. The "Park" is several thousand acres, and so far only about half has been developed. So it will keep getting better as time goes on. But it is a pay to use business much like Hollister. The trails vary from a mildly challenging drive in the woods, to some pretty nasty rockcrawling gardens. One rattlesnake infested giant rock slab hillclimb called "The Rattler" (for obvious reasons) put a very sizable dent in my rear skidplate and gas tank on my YJ. I have been filling my tank at 200 mile intervals ever since. I guess I should replace it. It would be nice to have a working gas gage again.

Another "Build It and They will Come (if invited, only)" story. A water skiing buddy of mine in Oregon - along with a bunch of his friends - built a water ski competition/training lake on some farm land. About 8' deep, complete with sensors embedded in the lake bed so that they can time their laps on computers in the boats. Big rectangle with an around-an-island-turnaround on one end. Really cool, they built a dock, shower, etc. They even do water skiing clinics for kids, and I think even some of the pros show up there, too.
Cheers from legs too old to water ski anymore. Stod

Stod Heard you loud and clear about the legs too old to water ski, mine would say "legs that never could water ski." I always seemed to just get dragged around! Can snowboard just fine, but put me in the water on some skis or a wakeboard, man what a drag!LOL

we2golf - have you had your MS up on the trails at Paragon? I just looked it up and it looks like a good place for me to work on my 4WD skills (other than snow). And its not that far from me.

No, the Sport is our grocery getter/trip taker/building material hauler/tow vehicle. The wooded trails here in the Northeast will put some serious pinstipes on your paintjob. I take my old Jeep out for that kind of activity. I haven't been to Paragon this past year because of major house projects, but the club I belong to plans to do some runs there. Where are you located? I could let you know when we plan to go. They are planning a mixed vehicle run where anyone is welcome.

Well.....It should protect all your body panels, but mosty likely just break something more important!LOL ;D I know what U mean though, someone should be held accountable for some of these horrible road conditions we spend our hard earned tax dollars on! Out here in the Beehive State, there is so much road construction, it's rediculous! but not as bad as say just a couple of years ago.
