Posted a few weeks ago about computer problems I was having trying to hook up my RCA cable modem (798k vs. phoneline's 56k) through a wireless Intel Gateway II to an Intel PRO/Wireless 2011B LAN USB adaptor into the computer.
FINALLY...successful!! I dumped the Gateway II, replacing it with a Linksys Wireless-G Access Point. WOW, what a difference, rockin' with 700+k. Plugged the Linksys into the ethernet port, took 4 steps to configure...badda-bing...I'm hooked up. Unhooked the hardwire, rebooted and am now running wireless!!
Intel sucks for the wireless LAN stuff (they are dropping support for many of their products...and focusing on cellular wireless). Also went wireless for the keyboard and mouse...Logitech's Cordless Elite Duo. Life with no wires is great! I may have to go wireless with a headset and mic coupled with voice recognition software...and I can post on the MS Online board on my way to the frig for another beer!!!!
Cheers from posting heaven. Stod
