The new Montero has an Oil cooler on the motor. I dont think the oil cooler drains when you change oil.
Do you just leave it as is or is there a drain valve for the oil cooler.

Unfortunately you cannot drain the oil out of the cooler. There is a company called BG that sell a machine to many dealers that blows air through the passages in the engine after you have changed the oil. It is usually $150 to have this done. I would say just change it every 3,000 miles and you shouldn't have to worry too much about it.
