I just got a message back from an inquiry I made with Rancho about which part #'s I needed for the RS9000X series in my 2000 LS Montero Sport, they replied back that they don't make any shocks for the Montero Sport. Yet, I've seen references from others on this board that they have sucessfully installed them on their Sports. So who is right? Can I install RS9000X shocks on my Sport, and if so what part #'s should I use to order them? Thanks in advance for your input.

My mechanic dumped the boxes in wich the shocks came from right after he installed them. I'll see if i can find out wich part # they where, and post back.

they dont make them for the vehicle at its stock height. If u get a lift(1.5-2in) they will have a shock of that length that u can use. sears is having a sale on them next week. Clay

Ok, but if I do not want to lift the Sport, what are my options for aftermarket shocks?

I went to my local shop today again. They said the model the sold me was the RS99223 (for the front).
They told me the ones for the back should be RS99213. I don't have them yet, but will be placing an order online really soon. Hope these helps.

Do you know which part number will I need if I do the 2in lift? DonĀ“t know. RS99223 and RS99213 are listed as for the montero with 0 - 1" lift. I guess this applies for the montero sport as well, since they have lots in common in suspension parts. That would mean that you probably whould go with longer shocks for a 2" lift. They guys at the local shop told me that you could take out the stock shocks, measure their length, add the # of inches you want to lift your truck, and then find a specific model for that length. I think rancho's site lists shocks by length too. Hope this helps.

By the way, the guys at my local shop got confused. RS99213 were not the correct part for the rear of my sport.
After trying different lenghts I installed RS9194, wich I think is an older model. Anyway, those fitted so I bought them.
Keep in mind that my Sport has a 1" lift in the rear via longer shackles, so RS9194 will probably not fit a Sport with a stock height.
