Awhile back I had mentioned that I was installing XM in my Nativa, I did install it and have been a suscriber for about 1 year, and just wanted to share with everyone of how bad it sucks compared to Sirius. XM sounds as if a machine filled with CD's just plays and plays does not seem that they worry about what there customers enjoy to hear. I have been studying Sirius with my friends portable player and find it to have better programming and will be switching out to Sirius with-in the next 2 months. I need to find a new reciever and Satellite tuner. Although I really enjoy my Pioneer DH head unit I can not do a direct connect with a sirius satelitte tuner so I am looking into a Kenwood. And while I am at it I was going to swap out the stock speakers for Infinity's 4002 and 6002si. Am I correct in assuming that a stock LS has 4" in the door panels and 6 1/5" on the rear door panels? Thanks.

Sirius vs Xm is a great debate...like Ford vs Chevy. Both are good but its simply a matter of preference. Both services will have up and down sides.
I have had XM for a few years now (I actually have three accounts) and there are a couple stations that play the same music over and over...those stations are the top 20 (station 20) and I think station 21 which is a local radio station (102.7 FM) which broadcasts both FM and via the XM sattelites. As most people know that listen to Fm radio one of the biggest issues is "the playlist".
The beauty of sat radio is that now you can tune in directly to something you like (in my case its XM81 which plays dance music and XM150 which is uncensored comedy).
As for having to swap your Pioneer for a Kenwood...if you can be a little patient there has been word that both comapnies (XM and Sirius) will have to become compatable shortly. They have already started making their own tuners and the aftermarket has stopped making tuners. (this means you no longer have to buy a dedicated Pioneer XM tuner for your Pioneer radio). They now make their own tuners and adaptors. The next step is to make the sat tuners interchangable via simple cable adaptors. This would allow you to add Sirius to your Pioneer and not have to swap out your head unit.
CES is in Jan and I would expect an announcement then.

sounds like a price hike is on the way to me. Are they being made to be compatible or is there going to be a monopoly. Clay

sorry for the delay...I was out of town. I havent seen a rate hike...ever come to think of it. To my knowledge it was the FCC that made them become compatable and both companies knew it so it wasnt a surprise.
The price of teh hardware seems to be cheaper now that they are making their own tuners.
I.E. a new tuner will run you under $100.00. My Alpine Tuner cost me $299.00 (a year ago) and it has some technical issues.

Ther are now universal tunners for ALL the different types of radios no matter what you have. They run ya about 100 bucks. Sirius is by far better if you want alot of GOOD music.
