is it difficult to install an HU yourself in a 97 MS LS? I have an appointment to have it professionally installed but its gonna cost $45. and I was told it only takes one harness to install it. If its not that difficult I may do it myself and save $45

Its very easy, For wireing just match the colors of the wires on the radio harness and the mitsubishi harness that you must buy. Then crimp or solder them together.
The actual installation is a total of eight screws and a trim ring which pops out.

You dont need to take the whole console off. Just the trim ring. it has 4 snaps on it.

97's are much more difficult to access the radio than the 00 and newer models. $45 dollars is a pretty good price taking that under consideration especially if that includes parts.
