had a couple more ? about ur drag racing adventures. I know u power break so how high do u rev to before u take off? Also about how fast are u going when u feel 2nd gear kick out and go into 3rd? My truck goes all the way up to 65-67mph before I get to 3rd. I would really like to have an idea of what to do and expect when I go to the track. Clay

when i power break, i let off the break, but stay on the gas, at about 5000 and when it reaches 6000 i let off the gas and back it up to the line!!! the actual rev limiter is at 6.5 or 6.6, somewhere around there.
also i let it rev up to about 1.5 to 2000 just before i take off the line. just act like your going to power break it but dont rev so high. you get a lot better launch. i try to rev it up to the point where its about to break loose but doesnt.
when i race i dont keep it in drive. i shift it right before 6000. start in LOW and shift to 2. and then the race is over. i hardly ever get into 3rd. i have tried to leave it in drive and it ran a 11.369 (11.3 shifting). so i just shift it. if you want more consistant run times though, just leave it in 3 or DRIVE.
by the way, didnt get a chance to run this weekend cause of weather. but i just did ALOT, and ALOT of wieght reduction to my MS. i took everything, and i mean everything out of the rear. (seats, storage bins, trim on wheel wells and hatch, seat belts in rear, rear wiper motor and fluid tank, and the spare tire) then i also did alot up front as well. (the entire AC system, compressor, condensor, lines, blower motor, and AC box) i also had a system in the back which i removed and put on quick disconnects. so when im not o the track i still have my BOOM, BOOM in the trunk. HA HA!!! all together i would say i droped about 250 to 300 pounds. somewhere around there. maybe more. i am going to take it to the scale here on base and wheigh it tomarrow. ill let you in on the results.
have fun and be safe out there,
~tony

thanks for the input. I really think I will be able to run in the 10's cause I can get to 65-67 in 2nd and when I did that I was'nt reving I was just letting off the break and pushing the gas with the same(right) foot so hopefuly I will cut some time by getting the revs up. Clay

No, I sent it to RPW to have it bored out 5mm, but he said it was very small and that one of their bigger units may fit after all so instead of a 50mm throtle bodie I will have a 60mm opening for the air to come through. After this and a few more miles I will have the t-belt done at the same time I will have the stage 1 cams from them (RPW) put in and have my ecu reprogramed to accomidate the bigger throtle bodie and cams. I've been following this thread and was wondering what kind of power increase the new cams are likely to give. Just wondering if the folks at RPW may have said something about that. Oh! Are the cams for the 3.0 or the 3.5? Or is there a difference?

is RPW going to reprogram your ECU? keep me updated on how thats going. also im really interested in getting some cams from RPW i do my swap, let me know how they work out too. if you dont mind me askin, how much was it to get your throttle body bored out. mywifesls, cwics cams are for the 3.5 but, RPW does make cams for the 3.0. here is a link for the description of the differant grind cams: www.visionimports.com/Internals03.html#anchor_3143just scroll down to the RPW cams. ~tony

I will have the ecu done by Jet Performance. I think but havent heard back from David yet, that it will be around $300 auzzy dollars which is about $230 US and that includes having the upper intake plenum opening bored to match. The stage one cams are supposed to do about 16-24hp and the stage 2 about 24-36 i think. Clay

hey man i hit the track agagin this sunday and pulleed an 10.70 at 67mph. i am so stoked!! i found out by racing acouple of times, then letting it sit for awhile to let the tranny cool down and then run it, i get alot faster time. i am going to puchase a tranny cooler from b&m this weekend, and after this huricane charlie passes, i am going to hit the track again. and see what i get. ill keep you updated. keep me updated on your stats and tricks that you do to get faster times. maybe we can see just how fast we can get the MS up to. later ~tony

on thing I think will help (maybe more in the1/4 is to short shift the 2nd gear change. My truck kicks out into third at 67mph now and it takes a while to wind out but if I let off the gas real quick it shifts sooner. Something I will have to try out. I can say that my 0-60 has dropped by about a 1/2 a second since I had the throttle bodie bored. Clay

I thought I should add that this truck puts out the most power in 3 so if anyone wants to get off the line at a track dont go all the way down to 2. the power diff was about 25 hp and torque from 2 to 3. Clay
