Hello everybody. I am the proud owner of a Pajero Sport GLS, year 2001 (it looks like the white one on the home page, except that it is black, and has a cattle bumper in front of it). The name Pajero is used where I live, but it is equivalent to the Montero. Although very satisfied with my top of the tops SUV (I frequently surclass Mercedes ML, BMW X5 and other Yuppies 4x4 on the winter roads of Switserland), I do have a problem with the cooling of the oil of the automatic gear box. It is the 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine, 177 hp. Sometimes the warning light goes on, indicating that the oil is getting to hot. I must then stop, and let the oil cool down by staying in neutral, engine running without giving gas. This of course is very disturbing. The official dealers told me there is nothing they can do. Does anybody know about this problem ? Maybe there is a better oil for the automatic transmission box, perhaps a competition oil. After all, they did go to the Paris-Dakar with the Pajero. Thank you for any advice or comment.

That is a somewhat frequent problem or so I hear with our rigs. I had the problem myself so I installed an aftermarket trans fluid cooler and problem solved. I got mine at a local discount parts store but I am sure you can find them online if you can't find anything local.
