...Open intakes are loud and I think the best gains are always highway because of the air velocity.
Volant has systems that run a "snorkel" down... I'm looking into cutting into the stock airbox and adapting this idea to a scoop behind the cutout in bumper fascia. I wouldn't use this location if you're crossing water, but not much chance of that in downtown chitown...

Injen makes one but it says - except for limited edition.
Does anyone have any experience with this? And does it truely not fit in the limited editions?

I can't say about the Injen application. I put in a cone filter on my limited from version for a lancer. i just cut off what i didn't need. pipe was the right size, adapter was right, and a nice big cone. see for yourself…<br>

i would like to know where this cold air intake system is that hooks the AC in to the intake? all the cold air intakes i have ever seen or installed in my 15 yrs as a mechanic have been what your looking for. drawing air from the outside directly ( where the air is COLD ) instead of from under the hood ( where the air is HOT ). jus curious at what you found.

yeah i have a ribbed bendable tube that runs from the slotted bumper part right next to the license plate up through a hole that was blocked by a useless piece of plastic and ends right at my intake. also putting this intake on my 01 3.5L changed the shift point for the auto to around 5500rpm and 2nd gear can take me to 60 atleast i havent paid much attention to how much higher. here are some pics. photobucket.com/albums/v149/bullit86/montero/

When I first did mine I noticed the higher shift point and asked if anyone else had a monty sport that shifted at 60+ as mine shifts at 65, but no one answered. Now I know it is cause of the air scope I have. thanks zed. Glen u can put on the largest 1 that will fit in the space u have. Clay
