Here's the link: www.gibsonperformance.com/products.asp?pid=14297&make=29#partsSays 2wd version I emailed Gibson a few days ago and got no reply. I called the 800 number and the sales/tech didn't know as he says he never worked with a 4x4 model before. Does anyone know if this will fit my 01 Monty XLS 4x4. The sales/tech suggested I call Mitsubishi, but what do I ask them? Thanks

should fit no problem. There isn't must difference between a 4x4 and 4x2 in the way the exhaust runs on a cat-back system. Just go by a mitsu dealership used car lot and take a look at one that is 4x4 and compare it to yours.

Really? Thanks for the info. How sure are you of this? Only reason why I say this is because I'm about to order it.

the only reason that it may not fit a 4x4 truck is that the front drive shaft might get in the way? im not sure i havent seen the under side of a 4x4 montero compared to my 2wd. just a thought

you know what? this may all be for nothing, the gibson exhaust says for montero, doesn't indicate montero SPORT . But, it does say 3.0 V6. I thought the monteros had only 3.5L engines and the sports had either 3.0 or 3.5. I wonder if THAT makes a difference.

So the Gibson exhaust is for the Montero Sport and not the Montero, right?

I belive the full size monteros have the 3.5L but with 2 cams per head and diff timing to get more power. The new Endevors have the 3.8L Clay

By deduction- it's likely to be for the Sport. The 01 Full Sized Monty's have a 3.5L SOHC engine and DID NOT have a 2wd option. The 3.8 L SOHC Montero came in later years (not exactly sure...but i think in 03) For informations sake- the 3.8L SOHC in the late model Montero's is slightly different than the 3.8L of the Endeavor as it has variable length intake runners. The 2004 Galant now uses it's own version of the 3.8L V6 with the mightiest engine going to the 2006 Eclipse. It has the 3.8L V6 WITH variable valve timing- it's got gobs and gobs of low end torque that breaths freely up to redline due to the variable valve timing and lift control!

Joel, CA Hijack my own thread. 2006 Eclipse engine....hmmm I'm thinking engine swap.....LOL. Anyway, if I decide to get the Gibson, I will definately have a report on in for you all.

Have you considered having your local exhaust shop fabricate a CatBack system for you using a Flowmaster or Magnaflow muffler? I don't know how much the Gibson costs but if it's anything as expensive as the HKS CatBack unit, you'll definately save a few dollars. Both Flowmaster and Magnaflow have excellent warranties provided it's installed by an authorized dealer.
Good Luck!
