I was looking at an 01 montero XS 3.5L and when I drove it on the highway at 78 MPH it was running 3300rpms,is that normal with stock tires on it?It just seems high for highway use and is a little bit loud. The throttle response is great, but the truck I drive know at the same speeds only runs 2200rpms.Just curious thanks.

Sounds about right. I have a 3.0 and @ 80 it's around 3200.

that's about right. Blame the weak engine and the 4-speed tranny.

The larger tires will make you run at a lower RPM, also takes away some of the "umph" when accelerating.
