Hello all, I searched the previous posts and could not find any info on these intakes and just wanted to get your opinions. I own a 1998 MT(3.0 Liter) & noticed that both autozone and Pep Boys carried a modular intake system from Spectre Performance. You basically pick and choose the parts that you need to build your intake. All of the parts are relatively inexpensive and I figured that I could build on for roughly $100. My question is, if I built a new intake and kept the MAS and vacuum lines in about the same place, do you foresee any problems? The reason for the new intake is not for more power but rather to make changing my oil easier. I bought a remote oil filter kit and am having difficulty finding a place to mount it. If I could get rid of the factory airbox, it would free up a lot of room under the hood. I also bought a Fumoto oil drain valve and attached a hose to it and Zip tied it to the skidplate so I no longer have to remove the skidplate to drain the oil. Sorry if I ramble but I thought this was a pretty neat setup and thought I would share. Its made of chromed plastic (stock is plastic & rubber). Looks like their chart is showing 7 to 10 degrees cooler than (matrix?? whatever that is). Every 100'F cooler gains you about 12-13%, so I don't know where that puts you relative to stock, but very small gains to be sure - provided you don't make too many bends. Each 90 bend loses about 3% so keep bends gentle, you sure don't want to wind up with losses! I'd avoid that accordian pleated stuff if possible.
I think somebody posted about a battery relocation a while back- search around. Might give you some space. ?

Good eye byrdman! Thank you very much. I never noticed that it was plastic. Well, I guess i'd better save a little bit more.

dont get that intake. spectra makes another intake w/a chrome pipe for the integra /civic (99-00)that u can get at autozone part#8219 . there is a write up about it at 4X4EXTREMESPORTS.COM.check it out. u will have to cut it down to fit but that is what i used. only took about 35min to put in then u can get a hks filter that fits in the spacewhere ur air box was as u have to remove it. then u will just have to find some type of mounting bracket. i can send u pics if u give me ur e-mail. clay
