Hi all I have a 2000 monterosport ls with 51kmiles on it with brand new tranny and cpu that has only 5kmiles on it. I have no mods done to it. I have a K&N air filter and i have went to 2.25 pipe. Streight pipe with dual 5inch tips. This thang sounds off I been in and out of this fourm for a few years. I have`nt seen anythang in here about nos and on nopionline.com they have a nos kit that they say will work for a monterosport maybe im wrong or they are but can u put nos on a 3.0 montero sport?

i would think u would have to have some sort of cpu controll for the ignition and fuel. not something i want to mess with because to do it right would require internals and filed rings. Clay

Thanks for the reply cwic . I was sure ther would be something to the nos kit for the sport as u mention above. I want to add all the performance parts that i can buy which is limited cause ther is not alot for the sport. Here is my performance upgrade plan
performance plugs and wires and a intake then all of the good fluids for the tranny and rear end
What should the next steps be to geting more power out of my 2000 3.0l
I have read your post on cam gears and all and that could be one of the next steps but what else can be done or bought to improve performance?
Also I got 2 1/4 pipe run from cat back with dual 5inch tips with no muffler dose it hurt or improve performance without the muffler?

bore out the throtle bodie. better exhaust, possilbly headers(check RPW) but the biggest bump short of turbo which will require a stand alone and modified intake plenum, would be the cams( also check RPW). dont get rpw's gears though cause the eclipse gears will fit, just need to mount the position sensor on it. will prob run around 2k installed. the big tips will prob hurt performance esp touque unless u get the engine to suck in alot more air ie. cams Clay

Thanks cwic for the info. The cam upgrade is well out of my price range for the current momment. Can anythang be done adjusting wise to the the stock cam?
sent a e-mail to NX about nos on a 00 3.0l monterosport and got back this reply "Thank you for your email. You need p/n - 20923-10. This is a single nozzle wet system that is adjustable from 35hp-50hp-75hp. You won't need to do anything special to your vehicle to put this system on. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks!"
Now I would love to have a nos setup for mostly looks and a tad bit more power but only if it is safe for the engine. Sure a sport is not a hotrod and is`nt ment to have nos going thru it but would it be safe to use a 35/50hp shot. If I got a nos kit my montero sport would rarely ever see a shot of nos maybe on a rare ocasion or something.

well i now know a little more about the rest. it seems that up to a 50 shot of wet would be ok if properly tuned in a safe rpm range at wot. u would need all the accesories that u could get from say nx installed 4 around $1000. the prob u may have is the tranny. i would get a shift kit before i did this. which i plan on doing! nos is ok like clay said, run a small shot but be careful even that small shot can be bad. run a fuel pressure gauge and keep an eye on it. if u drop pressure dont use it! we almost blew up my buddys mustang with it. im not to scared to use it myself, just have to be smart about it. But dont forget about the fuel system. if u have the exhaust and intake u can get the air in and out now u need to get more fuel, check into a upgraded fuel pump. then u can get more spark by adding a msd ignition system. they may not make parts just for the tero but u can do it its just like all the other cars on the road, suck compress bang and blow, lol lata Oz

i had an nx uviversal kit i got (used) from a friend on my 01 3.0 es for about a year. sprayed through 3 10lb bottles with 75 horse jets, usually in traffic. stock everything 93octane no problems at all, then i took the kit off to put on another car.
