Im Back The 2000 ls montero sport did ok going onto 60kmiles with almost new tranny and cpu only mod is streght pipe dual 5inch tips and k&n air filter and i used reguler unleaded. My very 1st drag run went bad but won i ran a old camero unknown power but 50ft into the run my electronics shut down for a split half sec cause the batterie brace was loose and a pos connection hit the chassie i ran a 18.350 at 77.24mph with a r/t of .479 and the camero did a 18.538 2nd run 17.786 at 77.43mph with r/t .825 3rd run 17.800 r/t .684 4th run 17.876 r/t .603 5th and last run a failuer I did not do a burn out before stageing and as it went green i stomp it and it spon thru 1st and into 2nd causeing me to not get good grip and ran a 19.031. ran 35psi in front 43psi on back by end of night i let air out back to 36psi... back tires wher mitch match michgian sorry for spelling and bridgestone. my burnout tire was a bridgestone and was more of a all terain tire than most thread pattern for street suv tires. I got plenty thread and grove pattern left and plan to go back after a mod. there was really no suv`s or slow trucks out there so there was no one in my time range. I had a good neck to neck race with a mustang gt up till 800feet when he started gaining speed and by 1000ft had me by .500 and by 1/4 had me by 1.008sec
It was a good night and had fun with my stock sport monty cant wait to return to the track next time with a new mod like a intake new performance plugs and wires or something and use some prem gas with octane booster or buy some 101ocatane from the track and try a gallon out. I never had a fuel line cleaning or injectors or fuel filter i need to i use some stuff bought from wallmart for 8bucks suposed to help clean out the lines and injectors but that was tanks and tanks ago. thanks for reading my thread and post.

Lower your air pressure down to 30psi at least. You'll get more traction.
Glad to hear you had fun!

Yeah, the K&N won't slow you down much, but like CerOf said-- esp. drop those rear pressures! Zoom zoom!

Thanks for the replys will drop the pressure next time to 30lb and hopefully have some kinda mod. I just ride up to the drag way to watch cars but for extra 10$bucks i can do my burn outs and run down track as much as i want. Can I see a aprovement useing 94/96octane or some 101 octane over useing 87? I normally run mix gas due to my nearest gas station only carrie 87 when i get gas else where. it is usely mid or prem so my tank has a little of mix 87 and 94/96 dose the cpu or engine need time to adjust to the new level of octane? I use to run prem 24/7 till gas got high and my local gas station only had reg. I never really notice any diff in the reg mid and high gas in my ms. I can tell a differnt in other vehicals thou.

No, using a higher octane won't do anything for you. The mitsu engines are note equipped to advance or retard the timing. Pump gas 87 octane will yield the same as 93+.
Dropping your air pressure in the rear tires will net you a gain on your track time. The difference between filter and no fitler would be negiligible. i.e. you would see no gains. You may even see a loss, but not sure on that.

Yup. Rears try 30, try 25... 20...cold - just for drag. Pump em back up 30 ish before sustained highway speed. Keep the fronts 32-36.
Happy hot rodding!

ak do u have a auto or stick if u have a auto u wlii get better times by running in 3. u loose alot of power in any other gear. i think the next time i go i will start in D and then go down to 3. it seens like the tranny does not do good with the power in 3 at first and it takes it longer to get to the higher rpms when starting in 3 compared to D i will know 4 sure when i get back to the track.
