2003 Montero Sport XLS 3.5L
I have a question about the Spectre intake mod. I found the Spectre Part I need (#8219). I have a question about the sensors connected to the stock Montero Sport Air Intake.
There is one sensor Closest to the engine that I could easily insert into the Spectre Tube.
There is a box directly connected to the Stock Air Box. I believe this box as sensor inside of it. If not It's of some type of importance, because there is a wire connected to it. What to I do with this box when Using the Spectre Intake Tube?

I'm going to anwser my own question.
After some more digging at the Spectre website I discovered what I'll need is the "Air Intake Mass Air Flow Sensor Adapter" Part No. 81403
|

yeah basicly all u need is the part that bolts up to the mass air folow sensor and the filter thats what i did with mine, i ordered it from injen. i dont kno wwhat else u have, but if its the tube after im intersted in getiing one myself!

an adapter plate will make it easy to put on a cone filter to the end of your MAS. works well. and it's quieter with the stock intake tubes with all the built-in baffles. see below.  but if you want a little more custom, put on a new tube. sounds louder, looks better. see below.  i am going to someday take the bend out. like this. bad photo work, but you get the idea.  the cone filter, pipe and adapter plate i got off e-bay for a mits lancer. it had all the same parts. the tube i cut off about 8" to make it fit. easy. |

did you have to reprogram the MAS since now there is a higher air to fuel ratio? or is the difference negligable between the stock and spectre intake?

no the ecu will learn and adapt to the mod.
